Chelsea academy graduate Lewis Hall is all set to complete a permanent switch to Newcastle United in the summer.
According to a report by Football Insider, Lewis Hall will soon complete a permanent switch to Newcastle United from Chelsea. A clause in his loan deal has been triggered which will see the teenage sensation stay at the Tyneside club beyond the summer.
Lewis Hall’s loan move to Newcastle
Hall came up the ranks at Chelsea at some pace. While they did promote him to their first team last summer, the Blues ended up sending him out on loan to the Magpies.
The loan move did come as a surprise to many as the teenager is rated very highly by the people at the club. He had featured in 12 matches for their first team even before he got promoted.
Chelsea’s financial situation might have played a big part in his loan move to the Magpies. The Blues have spent a fortune on player transfers over the past few windows. They are not in the best of positions in terms of financial fair play regulations.
Hall’s Newcastle switch made permanent
As a result, Newcastle might have just made the best out of the situation by offering them a loan deal with a buy obligation. The buy obligation depended on certain conditions which have been met. The clause was activated after Newcastle secured a win over Tottenham on 13th April to ensure they will not finish lower than 14th this term.
The Magpies paid £4 million as a loan fee and are now all set to pay another £28 million to sign him on a permanent basis. The 19-year-old full-back has only had limited first-team action this season. He has featured in 16 matches this term but has only had 500 minutes in total.
Things might not have clicked for him in his first season at the club but Newcastle feel the teenager has the potential to make it big. While the fee involved is a touch on the higher side, the 19-year-old has the potential to justify it.
His departure will help Chelsea to balance their books as the money raised will be listed as direct profit with him being a homegrown player. While the clause has been triggered, the payment will be completed by July.
