Manchester United are chasing Alessandro Bastoni

There are few players in the world that currently any club would jump the queue to sign them, and Alessandro Bastoni firmly falls under that category. The Serie A-winning defender has been superb for Inter Milan this season and has taken them on the verge of clinching another championship in Italy.

His future on paper remains secure with Inter Milan with a contract until 2028, but plenty of clubs circling, including Real Madrid, view him as a significant addition. Bastoni might figure out his future when the season ends, but until then, he might remain in the background and focused on Inter.

A host of Premier League sides are also working on signing him in the summer. Master United is willing to spend €60 million to sign him, and the Red Devils are looking for some statement signings to bolster their squad. They might view the xSerie A winning defender as an addition to their new project under INEOS.

Whether they will be convinced with a €60 million bid remains the question, as Simone Inzaghi will certainly feel he has more value than the price mentioned. Moreover, Inter under no pressure to sell their star defender, although a higher offer might test their resolve over the summer.

Manchester United plans a defensive overhaul

Considering the many rumours and links in the media, Manchester United may part ways with many defenders in the summer. Lisandro Martinez might be the only remaining senior centre-back in the squad, and they will need reinforcements.

Raphael Varane is also expected to leave, while Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are primed to exit. However, the signing of Bastoni may baffle some, as they already have a left-footed star in Martinez, which will make one of them obsolete weekly.
