Manchester United are reportedly lining up a move for Nacho in the summer, with the experienced defender set to leave Real Madrid.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are considering a move for experienced Real Madrid defender Nacho in the summer. The 34-year-old has expressed his desire to quit the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer and could look for a new challenge, with the Red Devils now angling a move.

Manchester United keen on Nacho

As Real Madrid got past Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals, the Spanish giants had to make sure they were defensively resilient in the process. One of their top performers on the pitch was Nacho, the 34-year-old experienced ace, putting in a significant shift until the very end.

He also slotted his penalty kick with confidence, and now the Santiago Bernabeu might end up seeing the last of their academy graduate and one-club man so far. Nacho expressed his desire to leave Real Madrid in the summer despite suggestions that the club would be willing to offer him a new deal.

Manchester United are now considering a move for the experienced Real Madrid ace ahead of the summer window, with the 34-year-old available on a free transfer. The Red Devils are planning on some defensive changes and could see the Real Madrid star as a valuable addition.

Whether Nacho will consider a switch to Old Trafford remains the question, as he could reunite with at least one of his former Real Madrid teammates, Casemiro. The other star there, Raphael Varane, seems likely to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer.

Manchester United planning defensive reinforcements

As mentioned above, Varane might leave the club, and others could join him in the defensive ranks in walking through the door. The pursuit of Nacho seems more like replacing veteran Jonny Evans, who is also expected to leave.

They are also expecting offers for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, which would leave them short in the central defensive ranks. Hence, signing someone like Nacho would help them deal with the loss in depth, but they will have to bring some notable names for the starting position at the club next season.
