Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for the services of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White amidst interest from Newcastle United.

According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are ahead of Newcastle United in the pursuit of the services of Morgan Gibbs-White. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has been a standout performer for Nottingham Forest in the ongoing season and it has put him on the radar of some of the top clubs from across Europe.

Gibbs-White’s time at Nottingham Forest

Gibbs-White joined Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022 for a deal worth £42.5 million including add-ons. The former Wolves star has gone from strength to strength since making the move. While the club as a whole haven’t been doing that great in the ongoing season, the 24-year-old has been putting in consistent performances.

He has featured in 37 matches in all competitions this term and has contributed towards 13 goals. His exceptional performances have resulted in interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

While his contract with the Tricky Trees runs until the summer of 2027, he could be on the move in the summer given the amount of interest in his services. Meanwhile, Nottingham are battling for survival in the English top flight, if they fail to stay in the Premier League an exit will become inevitable.

Newcastle and Tottenham to battle for Gibbs-White

The Magpies haven’t been able to reach the heights they did last time out. And, they are expected to push for multiple signings this season. Gibbs-White is a player who was on their radar in the winter and they have recently reignited their interest in his services.

They need more firepower going forward and the 24-year-old can surely help their cause. His versatility will be an added bonus for the Magpies but they seem to be behind Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the services of the former Wolves star.

Spurs have been scouting him for almost two years and they are ready to push for his services this summer. The scouts feel Gibbs-White is an “Ange Postecoglou player” and could do wonders under the Australian boss.

The North London club are better equipped financially than Newcastle at this stage and on top of that, they could have Champions League football to offer. They are in contention to finish inside the top four and even if they do finish fifth, that could be still enough to qualify for the league phase.
