Barcelona and Manchester City have met with Dani Olmo’s entourage to discuss the possibility of a summer move away from RB Leipzig.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Manchester City have held talks for the transfer of Dani Olmo. The Spaniard wants to leave RB Leipzig in the summer, with more clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea also keen on the Spaniard. His contract has a €60 million release clause.
Manchester City and Barcelona in Dani Olmo talks
Manchester City will be looking at a new attacking midfielder brand in the summer, with Pep Guardiola possibly anticipating some changes. They have already seen links to Lucas Paqueta, but the Catalan boss probably wishes to add another high-octane star to the equation.
They have set sights on Spanish international Dani Olmo, who might prefer a move to the Etihad, although he might end up studying other proposals too. Signing to play under Guardiola would undoubtedly have its appeal to any player, let alone Olmo, but there are other opportunities, like making it big in another team.
As things stand, Manchester City and Barcelona have held talks with Olmo’s entourage to figure out a move. There is a €60 million release clause in the Spanish attacking midfielder’s deal, which does seem nominal based on current market standards for a player of his quality.
Barcelona have the appeal of allowing Olmo to make a return to the club. The €60 million-rated was a La Masia talent but has taken a different route than most professionals, as he went to Dinamo Zagreb and then to RB Leipzig. Now, he could potentially make a return to one of the top clubs, which could be Barcelona or Manchester City or someone else altogether.
Dani Olmo has many other suitors
Apart from Manchester City and Barcelona, Olmo has attracted interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, while Tottenham are also thought to be monitoring his situation. The versatility of the €60 million-rated attacking midfielder does appeal to these clubs that are trying to make a move.
There were links to Real Madrid, but they are not substantial as things stand, as Florentino Perez is not looking to recruit a player of his profile. Hence, the chance may be in for those Premier League sides and possibly Barcelona to sign Olmo, as long as the latter can come up with the money required.
