There is no doubt that many teams are chasing him, with Chelsea also named as a suitor. However, Arsenal are reportedly leading the chase for the striker. Arsenal are now reporteldy ready to test Sporting’s resolve with an approach for the striker. The Gunners know the attacking target’s £85 million release clause but are not prepared yet to trigger that, giving them a clear path.

Reports have stated that Sporting might sell for less. But considering the striker’s performance, they have no reason to accept anything less for the £85 million-rated striker. Hence, it is a tough test for Arsenal to convince the Portuguese side to part ways with their star forward for less than his release clause. But they are ready to try and open discussions to find a way.

Why are Arsenal chasing Gyokeres?

Arsenal have been one of the potent attacking sides in the Premier League and Europe, yet Mikel Arteta feels the need to add a solid striker to the group. Kai Havertz has been playing in that No.9 role since the turn of the year, with Gabriel Jesus suffering from niggling fitness issues that have seen him miss plenty of games.

Eddie Nketiah has yet to nail down a place in the setup, and there are chances of the striker leaving the club in the close season. Hence, signing another striker, like Gyokeres, might create intense competition for places in the forward line.
