Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have enquired about the services of 34-year-old Real Madrid mainstay Toni Kroos.
According to a report by DefensaCentral, Manchester City are always on the lookout for players who can further bolster their squad and they feel 34-year-old Toni Kroos could be a great addition to their ranks. They recently enquired about the availability of the Real Madrid star as they hope to bring him to Manchester.
Kroos has been a part of the Real Madrid setup since the summer of 2014 and he has gone from strength to strength since. The German international has been a mainstay in their midfield for years and has helped them win numerous major titles during his time at the club.
Despite being 34, he is still a regular starter and an integral part of Carlo Ancelotti’s team. His current deal with the Spanish giants runs out after the end of the season and that is why clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation.
City keen on having Kroos in their ranks
City are one of the clubs that are interested in the German midfielder with 108 international caps. Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of Kroos because of his ability to control the tempo of the game. His understanding of when to push and when to slow things down is what makes him a special player.
The Spanish manager would love to have him in his ranks. As a result, during their Champions League match against Real Madrid on Tuesday, people from the English club asked Florentino Perez about Kroos’ contractual situation. They enquired about the German international availability with his contract running out.
But, the Real Madrid president has made it clear to City that Kroos will continue at the Spanish club. They want to have him for another year and his continuity at the club is taken for granted. The German international only wants to play for Los Blancos if not, he will hang up his boots.
Given the kind of form he is in, the 34-year-old is going to be a key member in that dressing room with Luka Modric expected to be parting ways at the end of the season. People at the club are quite confident that Kroos will continue at Marid and they are not at all worried about it.
