Manchester United set to offer a new deal to Willy Kambwala

Manchester United are reportedly planning to offer 19-year-old defensive sensation Willy Kambwala a bumper new contract following his recent breakthrough.

According to HITC, Manchester United are intent on rewarding teenage defender Willy Kambwala for his impressive performances by offering him a bumper contract offer.

Kambwala’s current deal is due to expire in 2025 and the club are ready to offer him a long-term deal.

The Red Devils can take some positives from the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford. Things looked very grim at halftime, and the only source of optimism seemed to be that Erik ten Hag’s troops were only 1-0 down.

But United showed real resilience to earn a point. Kobbie Mainoo scored an brilliant goal, as did Bruno Fernandes. Andre Onana impressed in goal. Meanwhile, there was a big opportunity for Willy Kambwala in the game.

It was certainly not easy in the early stages, with Liverpool putting the home side under real pressure. And although United definitely rode their luck at times, the 19-year-old emerged from the game with flying colours.

Willy Kambwala could fill the Raphael Varane void next season

The Manchester United academy just keeps pumping out promising first-team stars in a season full of disappointment for the expensively assembled senior squad.

After Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, Kambwala might just have established himself as the next bona fide first-team option.

The 19-year-old Frenchman was thrown into the deep end against Liverpool after injuries to Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Luke Shaw.

This was Kambwala’s second league start of the season, and he equipped himself very impressively alongside Maguire.

Kambwala defended with remarkable maturity, tackling when needed, jockeying when needed, and bringing passion at the back. He has come out of the game with his stock raised.

In total, Kambwala has made eight total senior appearances for Manchester United so far in the 2023–24 campaign, and the Red Devils chiefs feel he has huge potential.

The defender is set for huge Man United promotion after his Liverpool display and will be involved more regularly next season.

Raphael Varane’s exit could facilitate a promotion for Kambwala, with the ex-Real Madrid star touted to leave on a free transfer this summer.

United still have something to play for this season. Although securing a Champions League spot may be too much to ask for at this stage, Manchester United remain in the FA Cup, so there may still be chances for Kambwala to come in and stake a claim ahead of next season.
