Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

According to a report by Football Insider, Newcastle United have no intentions of negotiating the departure of their ace striker Alexander Isak but they could be under pressure to sanction his exit due to their financial concerns. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen on his signatures and if he is available, there could be a bidding war for his services.

The Magpies acquired the services of Isak in the summer of 2022 from Real Sociedad and he has gone from strength to strength since arriving at the club. The 24-year-old has established himself as an integral part of their first team. In the ongoing season, the Swedish forward has featured in a total of 33 matches and has contributed towards 20 goals. He has found the back of the net on 19 occasions.

Arsenal and Tottenham keen on Isak’s services

His performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. Arsenal and Tottenham are two clubs willing to go hard to sign the former Sociedad striker. Mikel Arteta is not happy with the output of his strikers. He wants to bring in a new number nine who can guarantee goals.

Isak seems to be a perfect fit for the club because he has proven himself in the English top flight and he is only 24, which means he can be a great addition for the short as well as the long run.

Meanwhile, Spurs might have decided to not push for a Harry Kane replacement last summer. But, they are going hard for a new marquee striker this summer. They want someone who can lead their line for years to come and the Swedish international seems to be an ideal fit.

Newcastle could be forced to sell Isak

While both clubs are keen on his signatures, Newcastle have no intentions of selling him. His contract with the Magpies runs until the summer of 2028 and they want him in their squad for next season at costs.

While Newcastle do not want to sanction his departure, they could be forced to if they are in need to balance their books. They have spent a fortune on player transfers over the past few windows which has caused financial problems.

As a result, they might be forced to sanction sales of some of their stars to abide by the Premier League profit and sustainability rules. Isak could be one of the players they look to offload to balance their books.
