Real Madrid will reportedly compete with Barcelona for the signature of 15-year-old African attacking sensation Amara Diouf.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona and Real Madrid might soon squabble over an African wonderkid for the first time. The two La Liga heavyweights have set their sights on Amara Diouf, with the 15-year-old Generation Foot attacking sensation emerging as a mutual target for the clubs.
Who is Amara Diouf?
Amara Diouf is the latest Senegalese wonderkid to rise in prominence. The African nation has produced several highly-rated prodigies in the last few years, with Mikayil Faye rising in prominence in the last 12 months after joining Barcelona. His compatriot has now become the talk of the town in the European transfer market.
The 15-year-old turns out for Generation Foot, having already broken into the club’s first-team squad. An even more remarkable achievement is that Diouf has made his debut for Senegal, making his bow on the international stage last year to become the youngest debutant in the nation’s history.
The youngster’s progress at Generation Foot has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Barcelona and Real Madrid are among Diouf’s prospective suitors, with the two La Liga heavyweights scouring the African market.
La Liga Calling?
An African project has begun at FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana signed Mikayil Faye last summer, while recent reports have linked the club with Ibrahim Diarra. Other African prospects also feature on Barcelona’s radar, with Amara Diouf emerging as a target heading into the summer transfer window.
As for Real Madrid, the Merengues primarily focus on European and South American talent to bolster the first-team squad in the long run. However, they are branching out to Africa, with Diouf emerging as a target. Reports in 2023 had also linked Real Madrid with the 15-year-old African wonderkid.
However, a move in the summer transfer will not see the light of day, as Diouf can only move to Europe once he turns 18. But Barcelona and Real Madrid can seal the agreement to bring the Senegalese under-17 international to Spain after he turns 18 in 2026. So, it will be interesting to see if the two La Liga heavyweights can make some headway into landing him.
