Aston Villa and Fulham are reportedly the front-runners to sign 24-year-old Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, a target for Real Madrid.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Aston Villa and Fulham are interested in signing Andrea Cambiaso in the summer transfer window. The two Premier League clubs are in the front row to sign the 25-year-old Juventus full-back. Meanwhile, the versatile defender is also a target for Real Madrid.
Andrea Cambiaso and his Juventus journey
Andrea Cambiaso has been a solid performer since joining Juventus from Genoa. A native of Genova, the Italian full-back graduated from his hometown club’s youth division but had to suffice with seeking game time elsewhere. He did not immediately establish a foothold at Juventus either, embarking on a loan spell to Bologna last season.
However, the Bianconeri kept him in the first-team squad last summer, and he has been a regular for the Serie A giants thus far this term. The 25-year-old has turned out 30 times this season, chipping in with three goals and five assists. Meanwhile, Cambiaso’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Aston Villa, Fulham and Real Madrid.
A Man in Demand
Aston Villa recently joined the race to secure Andrea Cambiaso’s services. The Villans are scouring the market for a right-back due to the inconsistent performances of Matty Cash. With Ezri Konsa, a centre-back, playing as a right-back for much of the 2023/24 campaign, Aston Villa can do with a natural option in the position. While Cambiaso is primarily a left-back, he is as good on the right flank, making him a viable target for the Villans.
Meanwhile, Fulham’s interest in Andrea Cambiaso is understandable. The Cottagers have two left-backs in the squad, but a closer look reveals the need for a new option. Fode Ballo-Toure will return to Serie A club AC Milan after his loan spell ends, while Antonee Robinson is a target for several high-profile clubs. The Italian defender has thus emerged as a viable target for Fulham.
The 25-year-old Juventus full-back is also a target for Real Madrid. While Cambiaso can be a left-back solution for Los Blancos, they will likely sign Alphonso Davies as the long-term candidate for the position. So, with Dani Carvajal on the wrong side of 30, he can be the Spanish defender’s successor.
The report has claimed that Aston Villa and Fulham are “in the front row” to sign Cambiaso from Juventus. But Real Madrid’s presence in the equation will likely complicate matters for the two Premier League clubs.
