Arsenal eye Michele Di Gregorio as Aaron Ramsdale replacement

Arsenal might pursue the signature of 26-year-old AC Monza goalkeeper to replace Aaron Ramsdale in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Michele Di Gregorio is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are in the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Aaron Ramsdale. The 26-year-old AC Monza goalkeeper has thus emerged as a viable target for the North London club.

Who is Michele Di Gregorio?

Michele Di Gregorio has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A since joining AC Monza from Inter Milan. A native of Milan, the Italian shot-stopper graduated from the Inter Milan youth division but could never establish a foothold in the first-team squad at San Siro.

However, the 26-year-old has been instrumental in AC Monza immediately becoming a mid-table club after securing Serie A promotion. Di Gregorio has turned out 138 times thus far for Monza, conceding 149 goals while keeping 52 clean sheets. Meanwhile, the player’s progress at the Italian club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs.

A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with recent reports linking the Italian goalkeeper with Newcastle United. The AC Monza shot-stopper has now emerged as a target for Arsenal heading into the summer transfer window.

London Calling?

Arsenal might part ways with Aaron Ramsdale in the summer transfer window. The Englishman has grown in frustration this season after becoming the deputy goalkeeper for the North London club since the arrival of David Raya. So, a summer departure might be on the cards for the 25-year-old.

The Gunners are thus scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window, with several candidates, including Patrick Schulte, emerging on their radar. However, Michele Di Gregorio is also a viable target for Arsenal.

The 26-year-old has risen in stature considerably in the last few years. And while joining Arsenal will be a step up in his career, the Italian shot-stopper will likely become a backup option behind David Raya. So, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal can convince the AC Monza goalkeeper to join them in the summer transfer window.
