Manchester United are reportedly lining up a €120 million bid to sign versatile Brazilian attacker Rodrygo from Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid star Rodrygo could be heading for Old Trafford in the coming months.

Rodrygo signed for Real Madrid in 2019 and has helped them lift nine major trophies, including one Champions League and two La Liga titles.

He remains an integral cog for the Spanish giants’ attack. He has netted 15 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions this season, as well as contributing eight assists.

However, Rodrygo’s future at Santiago Bernabeu has been in doubt of late, ahead of the expected arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick.

As things stand, neither Real nor the player are looking to part company, but the situation could change as the summer unfolds.

Any offer above €100 million could prove too tempting for Real to turn down right away. Rodrygo’s priority for next term is playing consistent first-team football, but Mbappe and Endrick’s arrivals could see his minutes shrink.

Manchester United could spend as much as €150 million to land Rodrygo

A lot has been made about Manchester United’s porous defensive performance in their 1-1 stalemate against Brentford at the weekend. And rightly so, with the Bees’ attempting a whopping 31 shots against the Red Devils.

However, this only paints half a picture. The Red Devils were equally disappointing going forward. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund all did little to trouble Brentford’s defence.

Bringing in a new attacker is going to be as crucial as adding another centre-back to Erik ten Hag’s squad this summer. And it seems United have already started working on that front.

It’s reported that United are preparing to go big to sign one of the best wingers in the world, Rodrygo. Defensa Central says the Old Trafford outfit will initially test the waters with a €120 million probe offer for Rodrygo. If Real Madrid turns that down, they will increase the transfer to €150 million as a last resort.

It remains to be seen if Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s side are indeed able to propose such astronomical offers despite being under Financial Fair Play scrutiny.

Regardless, Rodrygo would certainly be an asset for the Red Devils. He is quick, has relentless energy, and has unbelievable technical ability.

The forward isn’t the tallest player, but he is rarely shrugged off the ball thanks to his trickery and menacing pace. His goal contribution stats are just incredible, with 52 goals and 40 assists from just 207 appearances for the Merengues.
