Douglas Luiz might be prepared to stay at Aston Villa on the condition that they make it to the Champions League next season.

According to Ben Jacobs on Caught Offside, Douglas Luiz could stick with Aston Villa on the condition that they qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The Brazilian midfielder has plenty of suitors ahead of the summer, with Arsenal one of the prominent suitors for the Brazilian midfielder.

Douglas Luiz to stay at Aston Villa?

The summer window will come with many challenges for Aston Villa, as they are about to enter a different era in their club’s history. Unai Emery could lead them to a historic Champions League place should they finish in the top four.

If Aston Villa clinch a top-four finish, then Emery will have sufficient funds to strengthen his squad for the next season, as well as the hope of keeping some of their current top performers. Those could include Douglas Luiz, the Arsenal and Manchester City target, who has a big decision to make ahead of the summer.

The Brazilian could reportedly stay put at Aston Villa should they make it to the Champions League. That is a big enough motivation for the Villans to finish in the top four. The club have warded off many suitors for quite some time and even slapped a £100 million price tag to evade clubs like Arsenal.

That is a decent condition laid down by the midfielder, who will have big ambitions for his career. A move to Arsenal or even Manchester City will bring some variety to his playing career, as these clubs regularly challenge him to get big honours. Yet, Aston Villa have big hopes with the player and had even planned on contract talks in January. But Luiz might wait until the summer before deciding.

Who are interested in Douglas Luiz?

Luiz has been imperious for Aston Villa since signing from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola remains an admirer of his talents and might consider him a target for the summer. That is a challenging task for the Brazilian, who might have a point to prove at the Etihad.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also interested and have been chasing the midfielder for over two years now. They could still figure out a move for the Brazilian unless he chooses to stay put at Villa Park for the foreseeable future.
