Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are keen on signing the Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White at the end of the season.
A report from Football Insider claims that the Premier League clubs will have to shell out in excess of £50 million if they want to sign the versatile midfielder. The 24-year-old has done quite well in the Premier League this season and he has 10 goals across all competitions.
If Nottingham Forest go down to the Championship at the end of the season, the midfielder will want to join a big club capable of competing at a high level. A move to Tottenham or Newcastle will be an exciting opportunity for him.
Tottenham could qualify for the Champions League next season, and Morgan Gibbs-White will want to test himself in European football with them. Alternatively, Newcastle have an ambitious project and they could put together a formidable squad capable of winning trophies in the coming seasons. The 24-year-old could be attracted to the idea of joining them as well.
Morgan Gibbs-White asking price could be an issue
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham or Newcastle are prepared to pay in excess of £50 million for the midfielder at the end of the season. Although he has proven himself to be a reliable performer in the top flight, the asking price seems excessive and Nottingham Forest might have to lower their demands in order for the move to go through.
Tottenham need a versatile attacking midfielder like him who can operate in the central areas as well as on the flanks. He will add creativity, technical ability, and goals to the Tottenham attack.
Meanwhile, Newcastle need to add more quality in the final third as well. They have looked quite mediocre going forward this season and someone like Gibbs-White could prove to be a quality acquisition. The 24-year-old has the quality to improve both teams and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
The midfielder is quite talented and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. Even if Tottenham or Newcastle pay £50 million for him in the summer, he could end up justifying the outlay in the near future.
