Leeds United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Joe Rodon as Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sell him to them.
According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Leeds United could permanently secure the services of Joe Rodon in the summer if they manage to gain promotion. Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window, and they will look to raise balance their books by sanctioning the 26-year-old’s departure.
Ange Postecoglou has done a great job since taking charge of Tottenham, and he will look for further reinforcements to bolster the squad in the summer. And, to help balance their books and raise funds, the North London club could sanction Rodon’s departure.
Joe Rodon’s loan spell at Leeds United
Tottenham signed Micky Van de Ven last summer. His arrival saw Rodon go further down the pecking order. The Welshman ended up joining Leeds United on a season-long loan as they wanted to push for an immediate return to the top flight.
Since making the move, the 26-year-old has done wonders for them. He has established himself as a mainstay under Daniel Farke. Rodon has featured in 40 matches for them and has played a big part in their impressive defensive displays, with Leeds only conceding 30 league goals all season.
The Welsh international is already a fan favourite at Elland Road, and they are keen on having him in their ranks for years to come. Leeds United are currently second in the Championship, and there is a realistic chance of them returning to the top flight.
Leeds United can sign Joe Rodon permanently
As per O’Rourke, if Leeds United manage to secure promotion, they can surely sign the 26-year-old defender on a permanent basis. His contract with Spurs runs out in the summer of 2025, and the North London club are ready to sanction his departure.
Tottenham have plans of further bolstering their defence, and his departure will raise funds and make room for future arrivals. According to the report, a fee of around £10-15 million could do it for Leeds United. Meanwhile, the player would love to continue at Leeds but in the end, it will depend on whether the Yorkshire club manages to gain promotion or not.
