The lofty wages of Jadon Sancho will complicate a potential exit from Manchester United in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to a report by Ruhr Nachrichten, Manchester United star Jadon Sancho earns a fortune and his wages will be a huge hurdle for any club that wants to sign him in the summer. While Borussia Dortmund are considering the idea of making a move, they can’t afford to pay him the kind of wages he earns at the English club.
After making a name for himself at Dortmund, the Red Devils signed the former Manchester City youth product in the summer of 2021. They forked out a fortune to bring him to Old Trafford. He was expected to be the next big thing for them but unfortunately, the move hasn’t worked out.
He never really got going and after a public fallout with Erik ten Hag, he ended up returning to the German club earlier this year on a short six-month loan deal. Since returning to his former club, he has slowly started to get going once again.
Dortmund won’t be able to afford Sancho
Fans would love to see him continue in Germany and people at the club are considering making the move permanent. But, there are a few major hurdles in the way. The Red Devils pay him wages of around €22 million per season and the highest earners at Dortmund are Gregor Kobel and Niklas Süle who are at €10-11 million per season.
Even if he takes a huge pay cut, things will still be difficult for the team in yellow and black. The wages are a problem to start with. And, the fact that United are looking to recoup a significant part of what they had invested in him is another major hurdle.
Dortmund can afford to pay a big fee to sign him permanently. Neither can they offer him half of what he earns at United. As a result, the only way out for them is to hope they can negotiate another loan deal but this time with an option to buy. Not only Dortmund, but even other interest clubs will find it quite difficult to financially afford the 24-year-old Manchester United flop.
