La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly ahead of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Leny Yoro.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs keen on signing Leny Yoro in the summer transfer window. But Chelsea and PSG have fallen behind Los Blancos in the race to land the 18-year-old in-demand LOSC Lille central defender.
The Rise and Rise of Leny Yoro
Leny Yoro has experienced a dazing rise to stardom since breaking into the first-team squad at LOSC Lille. The Frenchman has been with LOSC Lille for over half a dozen years and has come leaps and bounds in the last few years. And he is now a mainstay at the back for Les Dogues.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed an excellent 2023/24 campaign thus far, turning out 35 times while amassing nearly 3,000 minutes of game time. But Yoro’s rise means Lille will have to battle hard to keep hold of him beyond the summer transfer window. Several high-profile clubs have set their sights on the youngster, with Real Madrid and Chelsea vying for his signature.
High in Demand
Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid will soon announce a new contract for Nacho. But while the veteran Spanish defender will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer transfer window, he is approaching the end of his career. In addition, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are on the wrong side of 30.
Meanwhile, Alaba might see a drop in performance levels after returning from a long-term knee injury. Leny Yoro has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid, with the 18-year-old viewing the Bernabeu as his priority destination. Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that the Merengues are ahead of Chelsea in the battle for Yoro’s signature.
As for Chelsea, the West London club will likely lose Thiago Silva as a free agent in the summer transfer window. The veteran defender’s departure can create a gaping hole in the defensive unit. Yoro has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
However, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have fallen behind Real Madrid in the chase, with Los Blancos the favourites to secure Yoro’s services in the summer transfer window. But it will be interesting to see if his other suitors can turn his head and beat Real Madrid to his signature.
