Newcastle United learn asking price for Dean Huijsen

Newcastle United will have to fork out €30 million for the services of 18-year-old Spanish youth international Dean Huijsen.

According to a report by the Telegraaf, Newcastle United are looking to reinforce their defence ahead of next season. The Magpies want to add more depth to their backline and Juventus’ teenage sensation Dean Huijsen is on their radar.

Dean Huijsen’s time at Juventus

Huijsen joined the Juventus youth ranks in the summer of 2019 from Spanish outfit Malaga. He has worked his way up and did make his debut for the Italian outfit in the recent past. However, he was struggling for any sort of game time in the first half of the ongoing season.

As a result, the Old Lady ended up sending him out on loan in the winter after promoting him to their first team. The teenager made the move to rivals AS Roma for a short loan stint and has already featured in 12 matches for them. Huijsen has even contributed towards three goals.

While he will return to his parent club in the summer and still has over four years left on his deal there, the Spanish international might not have a future at the Turin-based club. He is looking for regular first-team minutes and if he doesn’t find it at Juventus, the teenager will push for a move away.

Newcastle keen on having Huijsen in their ranks

According to the report, the Italian giants would like to use him in an exchange deal to land Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners but that seems unlikely. Meanwhile, they can surely sanction the teenager’s departure with Newcastle United’s interest in having him in their ranks.

The long-term injury of Sven Botman has caused problems for the Magpies. As a result, they are looking to have more depth in their ranks starting next season. They are quite serious in their pursuit as they feel the 18-year-old has the potential to be a special player and can help them in the long run.

The Italian giants will reportedly look for a fee of at least €30 million for the Spanish youth international. Since he has only played a handful of first-team matches so far, it will be interesting to see if the Magpies are willing to fork out that big a fee at this stage. And, they will also have to compete with a few other clubs that have been linked with him.
