Newcastle United are keen on improving their defensive unit this summer, and they are keen on Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande.

A report from Fichajes has claimed that Newcastle United want to sign both Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande in the summer transfer window, and they have been keeping tabs on the Sporting CP duo.

Inacio has a €60 million release clause in his contract, with Newcastle United reportedly best-placed to sign him. Meanwhile, Diomande has an €80 million release clause. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle are prepared to pay that kind of money for the two players.

It is no secret that Newcastle have been vulnerable at the back, and they need defensive reinforcements. Sven Botman is the only reliable central defender at the club right now. They should look to bring in a couple of quality defenders at the end of the season, and the likes of Inacio and Diomande would be quality acquisitions.

Both players have shown their quality with Sporting CP this season, and they are ready for the step enough to a big club. Moving to the Premier League will be an attractive proposition for them, and the two players could be tempted to join Newcastle in the summer.

The Magpies are one of the wealthiest clubs in the world, and they have an exciting project. Even though they have had a disappointing season this year and they are set to miss out on Champions League qualification, they have the ambition to attract talented young players.

Inacio and Diomande would be future investments

Inacio and Diomande are quite young, and they are likely to improve with coaching and experience. They might be able to justify the €140 million investment in the long run if Newcastle decide to pay their release clauses in the summer.

With that said, Newcastle will miss out on a lot of revenue because of their failure to secure Champions League qualification. So, they will have to comply with the financial regulations. They cannot afford to spend freely and therefore, signing both players without any major sales could prove to be difficult for them. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.
