Arsenal have Morgan Gibbs-White on their radar ahead of the summer as Nottingham Forest might sell their record signing.

According to The Daily Star, Arsenal are contemplating a move for Morgan Gibbs-White, with Nottingham Forest probably considering a sale. The Premier League club’s record £42.5 million signing’s departure could help their finances vastly, with the Gunners ready to pounce on the opportunity.

Arsenal are keen on Morgan Gibbs-White?

Mikel Arteta likes a versatile player with productive qualities and will enter the market looking for such a profile. He has some critical decisions to make ahead of the summer, with the club contemplating potential sales of fringe stars to fund new moves.

For instance, Arsenal might consider selling Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah, and Reiss Nelson, with all three homegrown stars likely to boost their finances. The money from their sales may prove good enough for at least two good signings, with Morgan Gibbs-White now considered a potential target.

Gibbs-White, who also happens to be Nottingham Forest’s record £42.5 million signing, has his future called into question due to the events at his club. Even then, after two good seasons at the club, he may look to leave for a bigger club that is challenging for significant honours.

Tottenham are also interested in Gibbs-White, although the competition from Arsenal and the idea of playing for a title-challenging side could appeal to the player. Moreover, the Gunners guarantee Champions League football, which may become crucial in the Nottingham Forest star’s decision-making.

Gibbs-White to replace Smith-Rowe?

On paper, Gibbs-White’s profile is very similar to that of Smith Rowe, with Arteta likely to see the similarities between the two players and consider the former a replacement for the latter. The future of Smith Rowe interests many, with Arteta wanting to get the best out of the player, but injuries preventing his progress.

With Arsenal contemplating selling Smith Rowe, they might see the Nottingham Forest star as the perfect replacement, with Morgan Gibbs-White also proving his fitness over the last two seasons. Ultimately, it is a matter of how much the Gunners would have to pay, as they will surely jump at the chance to sign him should he become available.
