Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of the 20-year-old RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

According to a report by HITC, Newcastle United will look to bolster their attack ahead of next season and they have their eye set on Benjamin Sesko. The 20-year-old striker has been doing a great job at RB Leipzig and he is on the radar of multiple top clubs.

Sesko’s time at RB Leipzig

Sesko had an impressive rise at Red Bull Salzburg before joining their sister club RB Leipzig ahead of the ongoing season. Since making the move to Germany, the Slovenian striker has featured in 34 matches and has contributed towards 13 goals.

While he has only had just over 1,500 minutes of first-team football, the 20-year-old still has 11 goals to his name. His performances have attracted a lot of interest and there could be a battle for his services in the summer.

Loïs Openda who arrived at the club along with Sesko in the summer has been in sensational form. His performances have kept the Slovenian on the bench which hasn’t pleased him and he is considering his future at the German club.

While his contract with Leipzig runs until the summer of 2028, there is a release clause of around £45 million that could result in his departure. Arsenal and Newcastle United are two clubs that could look to trigger his release in the summer.

Newcastle and Arsenal are keen on signing Sesko

The Magpies are back in the race for the services of Sesko after having first looked at him as a potential option back in 2022. They might not have signed him back then but are quite serious about their pursuit this time around.

Newcastle are looking to use the international window to check on his progress as they look to decide on whether to make a move in a few months. With Callum Wilson likely to leave and Alexander Isak’s future, they do need someone like Sesko to build for the future.

While the Magpies are keen, they will have to battle it out with Arsenal. Mikel Arteta is not happy with the output of his strikers and wants to bring a new number nine in the summer. Sesko is the kind of striker he wants to sign and with the 20-year-old available for around £45 million, the Gunners can surely prise him away from Germany.
