Serie A giants AC Milan will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Real Madrid full-back Ferland Mendy in a three-way operation this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Ferland Mendy is the subject of interest from AC Milan. The 28-year-old might be a part of a three-way operation that will see Theo Hernandez leaving the Serie A giants to join Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies moving to Real Madrid.
Ferland Mendy and his Real Madrid Journey
Ferland Mendy has been a solid performer for Real Madrid since arriving from Lyon in July 2019. While his offensive output might not be at the desired level, his defensive work rate is excellent. But the French international’s performance levels have dropped in the last few seasons due to a few fitness issues.
However, the 28-year-old has overcome those problems to turn out 28 times across all competitions while amassing nearly 2,000 minutes of game time. But while Mendy has been consistent thus far in the 2023/24 season, his long-term Real Madrid future is uncertain.
The Merengues are in the market for a left-back, with Alphonso Davies being the top target for Los Blancos. Recent reports have heavily linked Real Madrid with the Bayern Munich full-back. So, either Mendy or Fran Garcia will part ways with the Spanish club in the summer transfer window. And AC Milan will look to secure Mendy’s services ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Serie A Move on the Cards?
The report suggests Mendy might be part of a three-way operation involving Davies and Theo Hernandez. The latter is a target for Bayern Munich amid uncertainties surrounding the future of the Canadian international. So, AC Milan will need a new left-back if Hernandez joins Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, the Real Madrid wide man is also a target for a few Premier League bigwigs. But a move to AC Milan might appeal to the Frenchman, considering he will get guaranteed first-team minutes at the Serie A club.
It will be interesting to see if Mendy faces the axe at Real Madrid if they sign Alphonso Davies in the summer transfer window. A three-way operation involving Mendy, Davies, and Theo Hernandez might see the light of day.
