Manchester City are holding advanced talks with Philadelphia Union for their 14-year-old American wonderkid Cavan Sullivan.
The Athletic has reported that Manchester City are in advanced negotiations with Philadelphia Union for Cavan Sullivan. The highly-rated 14-year-old American wunderkind has been impressing in his age group, which has led to the Premier League champions making an approach to take him to one of their City Group-owned clubs.
Manchester City in talks for Cavan Sullivan
Manchester City have established themselves as one of the strongest teams in world football over the past decade. While they have shown massive improvement with their building of the first team, the club have also set an example for others with how they have gone about with their youth sides.
Their Under-18s and Under-21 sides continued to produce massive talent and ended up selling at least £70 million worth of talent only last summer. The club have shown they are the market leader in recruiting and developing youth talents as they continue to track some of the brightest talents from around.
Manchester City are now tracking American prodigy Cavan Sullivan and has held advanced conversations with Philadelphia Union. The highly-rated 14-year-old American prodigy has come on their radar after some impressive performances in his age group.
Manchester City have proposed a deal for the youngster and will send him to one of their City Group clubs, Lommel SK when he turns 16. He will probably arrive at the Etihad when he is 18. Philadelphia Union are keen to hold on to him at least until the player comes of age and turns 18, although Sullivan has not yet signed a new deal despite being offered one of the best in that age group by the US side.
Manchester City continue youth recruitment
Back in the summer, Manchester City agreed on a move to sign Harrison Parker from Manchester United, and they are in the market for many other talented names for the future. They are also keen on Cardiff City youngster Timeo Whisker, which signals their intent to beat competition from everywhere for the best talents available at other academies.
They are building something of a foolproof model with their youth teams and have led by example for others to follow suit. Arsenal recently adopted a similar strategy and are now actively buying young talent with a separate budget, while Tottenham are also in the same boat. Manchester City’s pursuit of talents like Sullivan from across the Atlantic shows how impressive their reach is.
