Fiorentina loanee Sofyan Amrabat appears uninterested in extending his stay at Manchester United beyond the summer.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness, Sofyan Amrabat’s loan move to Manchester United hasn’t really gone according to plan as he has only had limited game time. The Red Devils are unlikely to make his move permanent and even the player intends to leave in the summer.
Amrabat made a name for himself at the FIFA World Cup 2022 and he followed it up with exceptional performance with Fiorentina. It resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe and eventually Manchester United signed him on a season-long loan by paying a significant fee.
Sofyan Amrabat looking to return to Italy
The deal also includes a buy option but the Red Devils are unlikely to trigger it. Amrabat has been involved in only 14 Premier League games and has racked up less than 700 minutes. He hasn’t been able to break into Erik ten Hag’s team and has been behind Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo in the pecking order.
United have big plans for the summer under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, they are expected to make quite a few signings but extending the stay of Amrabat might not be in their plans despite having paid a significant fee upfront to land him at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, the player is not happy with his experience in England and the report suggests, he will look to return to Italy in the summer. He is expected to be back at Fiorentina in the summer. But, there is a big possibility of him leaving them.
Juventus waiting in the wings for Sofyan Amrabat
His contract at Fiorentina runs out in the summer of 2025 and there is a significant interest in him from Juventus. With his contract running out in a year, the Florence-based club might look to sell rather than risk losing him for free in a year’s time. As a result, a move in the summer to the Italian giants could be a great end result for all parties involved.
He has been a long-standing desire of Juventus director of football Cristiano Giuntoli and the Old Lady are waiting for United to turn down the buy option before making a move for his services.
