Liverpool have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of German sensation Jamal Musiala as Bayern Munich have no intentions of selling.
According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool are keen on having Jamal Musiala in their ranks. The Reds want to make him their marquee signing of next summer but they have suffered a blow as Bayern Munich have no intentions of sanctioning his departure.
Musiala was a part of the Chelsea youth ranks before making a move to Bayern in the summer of 2019. In a year, he went from the Under-17 team to the first team and hasn’t looked back since. The German international has gone from strength to strength since and has been a constant feature for both club and country.
Jamal Musiala’s contract situation at Bayern
While things did become frustrating for him at one stage this season under Thomas Tuchel. He has gone decent game time of late and has contributed with goals as well as assists. His performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
His contract situation at the German club makes things interesting. While there are still over two years left on his deal, Bayern want to tie him down to a new long-term contract. But, the player has rejected contract proposals which makes things interesting.
Liverpool keen on Musiala’s signatures
Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on having him in their ranks. The Reds have managed to bring ex-director Michael Edwards back to the club. He will oversee all transfer activity in the summer and is expected to spearhead the transition as a new manager takes charge. Musiala will be a priority target for Edwards as per the report.
While the Reds are looking to make the best of his contract situation, Bayern have no intention of losing him in the summer. As a result, they have set a huge asking price of £100 million. It will be very difficult for the Merseyside club to fork out that big a fee unless there is a big departure.
