PSG run rule over Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi; Manchester City make contact for latter

Paris Saint-Germain scouted Barcelona teenage duo Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi against Napoli, with Manchester City establishing contact for the latter.

According to a report by SPORT, as relayed by Sport Witness, Pau Cubarsi is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions have established contact over a move for the 17-year-old Barcelona prodigy. Meanwhile, a separate update has suggested that PSG scouted Lamine Yamal and Cubarsi against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League this week.

The Rise of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi

Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi are the latest highly-rated prospects to establish a foothold in the Barcelona first team. The reigning La Liga champions have resorted to their academy due to their never-ending financial issues. Several prodigies, including Gavi and Alejandro Balde, have thus grabbed their opportunities with both hands.

Cubarsi made his first-team debut in January and has become a regular at the back since then. As for Yamal, his rise has been unbelievable, as he made his first-team debut last year and has turned out 38 times thus far this season for Barcelona despite being only 16 years old. He also has a solid record of six goals and seven assists.

Yamal has already broken into the Spanish national team, while Cubarsi is on the verge of earning his Spain bow. So, with the duo going from strength to strength despite not being adults, it is hardly surprising that they have piqued the interest of several high-profile clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.

High in Demand

A report by SPORT has claimed that PSG dispatched scouts to watch Yamal and Cubarsi against Napoli earlier this week in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Both players were impressive, but Cubarsi was even more so after he earned the Man of the Match award for his performance.

Meanwhile, Cubarsi is also a target for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola closely monitoring his progress. The Premier League champions have invested heavily in centre-backs but do not shy away from adding to their defensive resources. They have now established contact over a possible move.

But the 17-year-old is committed to Barcelona and will likely sign a new contract soon. As for Yamal, he might not leave Barcelona either, even though he can be a high-value asset for the Blaugrana amid the urge to cash in on a few players to balance the books.
