Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to battle it out for the services of 23-year-old Athletic Club attacking midfielder Oihan Sancet.
According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen on having Oihan Sancet in their ranks. The 23-year-old has been in sensational form of late, and his impressive performances as well as huge potential have attracted interest from across Europe.
Sancet’s rise at Athletic Club
Oihan Sancet joined the youth ranks of the Athletic Club in the summer of 2015. He went up the ranks at some pace and made it to their first team in the summer of 2020. The attacking midfielder has not looked back since.
In the ongoing season, he has featured in 33 matches, contributing towards ten goals in just over 2,100 minutes of first-team action. He has grown in stature with every passing season, and his performances in the recent past have not gone unnoticed.
Multiple clubs from across Europe are keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old, who penned down a new deal last year. His new contract with the Spanish club runs until the summer of 2032. While Athletic Club have done their best to secure their investment, they are still unlikely to have him in their ranks beyond the summer.
London clubs to battle it out for Oihan Sancet
The new deal will surely give Athletic Club the upper hand during negotiations. But they are unlikely to keep hold of their star with clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur keen on his signatures. The English duo are quite impressed with what they have seen of the 23-year-old in La Liga.
Both North London clubs are looking for a new attacking midfielder. The Gunners want someone who can provide cover for their skipper Martin Odegaard and bolster their attack in general. They have thus shown interest in several midfielders, including Brahim Diaz. Meanwhile, Spurs want to sign someone who can support James Maddison.
Arsenal and Tottenham are both scouting Oihan Sancet. They feel he has huge potential and do not want to miss out on his services. His arrival will add depth to their squad and make them more threatening going forward.
