Manchester United want €50 million for the services of their 22-year-old academy graduate Mason Greenwood.
According to a report by Marca, Manchester United are ready to sanction the departure of Mason Greenwood. Their 22-year-old is currently out on loan at Getafe, his impressive performances form for the Spanish club has attracted interest. But, the Red Devils have set an asking price of €50 million for him.
Mason Greenwood revives himself at Getafe
United did consider the idea of reinstating Greenwood in their first team but they faced a lot of backlash and dropped it. Getafe were willing to bet on the 22-year-old and they managed to sign him on a season-long loan.
Since joining them, he has featured in a total of 26 matches and has contributed towards 13 goals. While he prefers playing on the right flank, he has done an equally good job on the left as well as up top.
His impressive performances since returning to football have caught the attention of quite a few clubs. While Getafe are looking at ways to keep him at the club for another year, quite a few clubs are ready to sign him permanently.
United ready to sell Mason Greenwood
Reports earlier suggested that Sir Jim Ratcliffe was ready to give Greenwood an opportunity to revive his United career. But, it seems that was an attempt to ensure his value doesn’t suffer much.
Officials of the English club recently travelled to Getafe in order to sort out the 22-year-old’s future at Old Trafford. They were in talks with the player and his representatives about the options they have moving into the summer.
Barcelona are one of the clubs that have been linked with the United winger. The Catalan giants are looking to reinforce their attack ahead of next season and Greenwood has been on their radar for a while now. He has proven himself in the Spanish top flight and could be a great fit for them.
The United officials who travelled to Getafe to meet the player’s side were also spotted in Barcelona with Deco. The report states that the two parties were involved in talks regarding the future of quite a few players with INEOS all set to bring in major changes in the United squad next summer.
The Red Devils will look to offload quite a few players before signing new ones. And, Greenwood is one of the names on that list but they are looking for a fee of €50 million. While the Catalan giants are quite keen on having him in their ranks, they can’t afford to sign him amidst their ongoing financial crisis.
