Tottenham are on the verge of agreeing on a professional contract with highly-rated 17-year-old talent Callum Olusesi in the coming days.
Football Insider insists Tottenham are close to agreeing a first professional contract with highly-rated talent Callum Olusesi. The 17-year-old will become eligible to sign a professional contract today, as Spurs have no intention of wasting any time to seal his future with the club.
Callum Olusesi to sign professional terms with Spurs
The youth market is something all top clubs have kept a close eye on. There are talents emerging from academies that have caught the eye of many, including Tottenham’s Callum Olusesi. The teenager has turned 17 today, making him eligible for his first professional contract, and Spurs have no intention of wasting any time.
Callum Olusesi attracted massive interest from domestic rivals last summer, and around then, he went full-time with Tottenham on a scholarship agreement in July of last year. That allowed the Spurs to gauge his talent better, and now they have come to a conclusion about offering him his first professional terms.
Olusesi, a central midfielder, can also operate in multiple areas of the attacking setup. The 17-year-old has been a mainstay for Spurs in the under-18s Premier League this season. He made 14 appearances, scored a goal, and assisted in just 31 minutes of action against Southampton last month.
The 17-year-old can also play in the defensive midfield or even the centre-forward role while being used occasionally in the attacking midfield position. As Olusesi inches closer to signing his first professional contract with Tottenham, he might now explore settling down in one position, as the teenager sees a place in the first team in the coming years.
Tottenham’s plans for the future
Tottenham appear very serious under Ange Postecoglou and will continue to improve its side using the transfer window. They are targeting another youth player, 18-year-old Dani Rodriguez of Barcelona, who could arrive on a free transfer during the summer.
The most pressing matter for the club would focus on extending skipper Son Heung-min’s contract and securing his future as their talisman for the coming period. There are other players that Postecoglou wants in the summer, which could see Tottenham strengthen as per the Australians’ demands.
