Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are ready to trigger the release clause of the 22-year-old Girona full-back Miguel Gutierrez.

According to a report by Defensa Central, Arsenal are keen on having Miguel Gutierrez in their ranks. The 22-year-old left-back has been in sensational touch in the ongoing season and his performances have attracted interest from across Europe.

Gutierrez came up the ranks at Real Madrid before moving to Girona in the summer of 2022. He was sold just days after getting promoted to the first team. Fortunately for him, the move has done wonders. He has gone from strength to strength and is currently on the radar of some of the biggest clubs.

The 22-year-old has taken his game to another level in the ongoing season. He has featured in 30 matches and has even contributed towards seven goals. He has played a big part in their push for the La Liga title.

Arteta keen on Gutierrez

His consistent performances and huge potential have attracted a lot of interest. Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on him for a while now. Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the former Real Madrid full-back.

The Spanish manager feels he could be a great addition to their ranks in the short as well as long run. While they do have Oleksandr Zinchenko in their squad, the 22-year-old could compete with the former City star for a place in the starting XI.

Arteta seems to be quite impressed by Gutierrez and that is why the North London club are willing to go all out for his services. While the Spanish full-back contract with Girona runs until the summer of 2027, they are aware of the fact that they might not be able to stand in his way in the summer.

Real Madrid’s interest & the buy-back clause

There is a release clause worth around €30 million in his contract and the Gunners seem determined to trigger it. But, they could still find things difficult if his former club Real Madrid steps up their interest. They have a buy-back clause worth €8 million which could be used to re-sign him. And, as per reports, Real Madrid are all set to trigger it.

If they decide against it and allow his sale, they will still receive €15 million. Los Blancos could even look to use the buy-back clause and then sell him to the highest bidder, this way they could raise more funds.

Arsenal have so many left backs at the moment with Kiwior, Zinchenko, Tommy and Timber. But Worth an £8 million punt, easy resale value at little risk as a gamble.
