Tanguy Ndombele has no future at Tottenham, and the club will find it challenging to sell him in the summer amid many issues.

Dean Jones on Give Me Sport might have rightly suggested the problems Spurs might face in their quest to sell record-signing Tanguy Ndombele. Since his big move from Lyon in the summer of 2019, the midfielder has yet to make a mark, and currently, Ange Postecoglou does not fancy having him in his squad next season.

Tanguy Ndombele’s Tottenham career over?

Tanguy Ndombele was one of the finest midfielders during his Lyon days, prompting Tottenham to pay a club-record £63 million to sign him. While he showed promise early in his Spurs career, the midfielder’s time soon fizzled out, and he became irrelevant to the club’s plans, especially under Jose Mourinho.

For a player who is costing so much money, Tottenham has barely seen anything from him over the years to suggest he might make a mark. His current £200,000-a-week deal ends in 2025, and should he know the end of it, then Spurs would have shelled out £115 million on him, including transfer fees and wages, which is a lot for a player who has barely played in their colours.

He has had a few underwhelming loan spells in between and also boasts a Serie A winner’s medal from his spell at Napoli last term. However, this season, he has been underwhelmed at Galatasaray and has had instances there, including a fallout with their manager for being overweight by six kilograms. Dean Jones believes Ndombele does not have a future at Spurs.

If any Spurs fans hope to see the £200,000-a-week midfielder back at the club, they should relinquish that, as Ndombele will not play for the club again. Ange Postecoglou does not fancy having him in his squad, amid reports the Australian boss was unimpressed with the Frenchman for his timekeeping and general behaviours during pre-season.

Tanguy Ndombele’s career downfall

From his time at Lyon, many would have predicted Ndombele to have a stellar career, and the move to Spurs was seen as a significant step up. However, things have not gone to plan, as the 27-year-old has faced plenty of criticism for his behaviour and conduct.

He has put on more weight than necessary at Galatasaray, which has seen him fall out with the manager. The report also claims the £200,000-a-week midfielder was spotted ordering a burger in his hotel room, which will not bode well with a club of Tottenham’s stature.
