Tottenham Hotspur are scouting 24-year-old Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand ahead of a potential move in the summer.

According to Record via SportWitness, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in having Morten Hjulmand in their ranks ahead of next season. The North London club are looking to bolster their midfield ahead of next season and have been scouting the 24-year-old Sporting CP midfielder of late.

Hjulmand’s dominant start at Sporting

Hjulmand joined the Portuguese club ahead of the ongoing season from Lecce. The Danish midfielder was their second most expensive signing ever after Victor Gyökeres. He has had a sensational start at the club and has grown in stature over the past few months.

The defensive midfielder is already a mainstay at the Portuguese club and his dominant performances have attracted a lot of interest from across Europe. Tottenham Hotspur from England are quite keen on having the 24-year-old in their ranks.

Tottenham’s interest in the Danish midfielder

Scouts from the English clubs were part of the English contingent that was present in the stands to watch Sporting square up against Benfica earlier this week. While there were quite a few talents in action, Spurs scouts had their eyes particularly on Hjulmand.

Their interest in the 24-year-old has been growing over the past few weeks and it has reached a point where they have sent a representative to watch him in action. And, the official has returned with positive reports about the Danish international.

The North London club are on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder. They want to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s squad and want to ensure the potential departure of Oliver Skipp and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg doesn’t have any major effect on the squad.

Postecoglou has had an impressive start at Tottenham and the club wants to ensure he has the needed depth to compete for major titles. They feel the Sporting midfielder is an ideal fit and they are willing to invest in him.

As far as the Portuguese club are concerned, they are not interested in sanctioning his departure any time soon. As a result, Spurs will have to dig deep if they decide to continue their pursuit on the back of the positive reports.
