Newcastle United and Aston Villa may not have a chance to sign Federico Chiesa as the winger prefers the more illustrious clubs.

According to Tutto Juve, Federico Chiesa may end up snubbing the advances of clubs like Newcastle United and Aston Villa. The 26-year-old could leave Juventus in the summer and remains open to joining a Premier League side, but seemingly prefers a more illustrious club over the aforementioned duo.

Newcastle, Aston Villa suffer Chiesa blow

The moment a player like Federico Chiesa becomes available in the market, many clubs will spring up and take their chances. In the last years, teams like Aston Villa and Newcastle United have looked at some important stars as they have the financial capacity to take them and even pay necessary wages.

However, in Chiesa’s case, there has been tremendous interest from the duo above, with Newcastle United even stepping up their chase for the 26-year-old winger. The Magpies are expected to make room for a player of Chiesa’s quality and might even end up selling Miguel Almiron.

Eddie Howe’s side managed to lure Sandro Tonali last summer and are in the Italian market for few other top rated stars including Chiesa and Nicolo Barella. However, in the case of the 26-year-old’s winger, he may not prefer to join the Magpies, unlike his international teammate and former AC Milan midfielder Tonali.

The report states that Chiesa does not consider Newcastle United or Aston Villa as an elite club as he might open the doors to a more illustrious club in that regard. Hence, while Unai Emery’s side also wanted to take their chances with a bid for the winger, the player could reject those overtures and wait for someone more significant to make an offer.

Chiesa would prefer Chelsea or Manchester United.

Chelsea and Manchester United are a few of the top clubs keen on Chiesa, as per multiple reports. The Premier League giants are not in the best of shapes in recent seasons as both could end up missing out on a top-four place this season. Yet, in the eyes of the 26-year-old, they are elite entities, and he might prefer a move.

With Chiesa’s contract ending in 2025, Juventus might end up cashing in on the 26-year-old winger, with other clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal also showing enough interest.
