Manchester United have been linked with a move for 22-year-old Girona defender Miguel Gutierrez, who will cost around £30 million.

According to a report from The Sun, Manchester United will have to pay £30 million for to sign Miguel Gutierrez from La Liga outfit Girona.

The Spanish full-back is a target Tottenham Hotspur as well. Gutierrez has been quite impressive in La Liga this season, and he has impressed with his displays at both ends of the pitch. He has been a reliable defender for the Spanish club, picking up seven goal contributions going forward as well.

The 22-year-old could be tempted to move to the Premier League, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United can win the race for his signature. The Premier League giants will have to pay £30 million for the former Real Madrid defender, and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to break the bank for him.

Gutierrez is certainly good enough for the Premier League, and he could improve them immensely. Luke Shaw has had persistent injury problems, and Tyrell Malacia has barely played this season. Interestingly, Jose Mourinho wanted to sign him for Manchester United in 2017.

Manchester United must look to sign a quality left-back in the summer, and the Girona star would be a superb long-term investment. He could easily justify the £30 million fee in the coming seasons. Gutierrez is still only 22, and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience.

Miguel Gutierrez to Tottenham looks unlikely

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the player as well, and it will be interesting to see if the north London giants decide to make a move for him. It seems unlikely that Tottenham would be willing to pay £30 million for a player who might not even start for them.

Destiny Udogie has been hugely impressive for the North London club, and he is likely to be the first-choice left-back after his performances this season. In the backup options, Tottenham have Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon. They will struggle to accommodate Gutierrez in the starting lineup, and a move to the North London club would not be ideal for the 22-year-old either.

He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career. So, Manchester United would be a suitable destination for him. The £30 million asking price should not be a problem for clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham. It will be interesting to see where the young defender ends up eventually.
