Liverpool are willing to sanction the departure of their 27-year-old Colombian star Luis Diaz for a fee of €140 million.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool are ready to cash in on Luis Diaz but they will only let him leave for a fee of over €100 million. The 27-year-old has been an integral part of their first team setup since arriving at the club but the Reds are willing to sacrifice him for the greater good of their squad.
Diaz made the move to Liverpool from FC Porto in the winter of 2022 for a fee of around €45 million. He started off in fine fashion and made quite a name for himself. While he hasn’t been at his best in the ongoing season, things have started to get back on track for the Colombian winger.
He still has over three years left on his deal at the Merseyside club and they are quite happy with his performances. Despite that, the club have decided to sanction the sale of the 27-year-old. They are willing to cash in on their Colombian star to raise funds that could be used to reinforce their squad.
The club are all set to undergo a major change with Jurgen Klopp leaving at the end of the season. They are on the lookout for a new boss and in the meantime, they have already started making plans for the upcoming transfer window.
Liverpool’s priorities & Diaz’s price tag
Their priority at this point in time is to ensure they pen down a new deal with Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. If they manage to extend the stay of Salah at the club, they won’t have any problems letting Diaz leave given the number top quality forwards they have in their ranks.
While they are ready to cash in on the 27-year-old, they will only let him leave for a fee that triples their initial investment. They are willing to offer in excess of €100 million and the minimum price they are looking to make is €140 million.
Diaz is an exceptional player and he still has quite a few years left in him. But, it will still be interesting to see if a club is willing to fork out that big a fee for the Colombian international.
