Liverpool are willing to listen to offers for the services of their 27-year-old Colombian star Luis Diaz as they look to hold onto Mohamed Salah.
According to a report by The Sun, Liverpool are ready to part ways with Luis Diaz if they manage to extend the stay of Mohamed Salah. The Merseyside club are gearing up for an important transfer window as they look to prepare for life without Jurgen Klopp.
They have some important decisions to make and they seem prepared to sacrifice the Colombian star in order to raise funds. But, they will only sanction his departure if they manage to tie Salah down to a new contract.
Diaz’s time at Liverpool could end soon
Diaz joined Liverpool back in the winter of 2022 from FC Porto for a fee of €45 million. He had an exceptional start to life in England but things haven’t been that great in the 2023/24 season. While he has recently shown glimpses of his initial form, Liverpool are still willing to let him leave.
The Merseyside club have quite a few quality forwards in their ranks, as a result, they can afford to sanction his sale. They are willing to cash in on the 27-year-old in order to have funds to bolster their squad in the summer.
With Jurgen Klopp leaving, the club are on the lookout for a new manager. They have been in talks with quite a few managers from across Europe but as things stand Xabi Alonso is their priority.
Liverpool’s priority heading into the summer
Irrespective of whoever replaces Klopp on the Liverpool bench, his top priority will be to extend the contracts of Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk. All three of them only have over a year left on their deals, if they do not pen down a new deal in time, they could be on their way out.
Salah has a massive interest in his services from the Middle East, as a result, his future isn’t really uncertain. But, the Reds are willing to offer him another big contract to extend his time in England. They feel he could be key to the start of a new era.
If they manage to agree on a new deal with the Egypt international, the Reds will be willing to sacrifice Diaz in order to ensure their new boss has enough funds to play with.
