Chelsea could prioritise a move for Aaron Ramsdale in the summer, with the 25-year-old keen to leave Arsenal for a new challenge.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea has identified Aaron Ramsdale as their top summer target to replace Robert Sanchez. The 25-year-old Gunners stopper is keen to leave north London in search of regular opportunities and could take the interest from the Blues into account.
Chelsea prioritises Aaron Ramsdale’s move
It’s been a strange season for Aaron Ramsdale, considering that he finished a Premier League campaign in top form not long ago and was considered one of the best goalkeepers in England and probably Europe. The arrival of David Raya late in the summer window has caused the England international to lose his spot to the Spaniard, a decision Mikel Arteta has since stuck with.
Considering the quality Ramsdale possesses and his personal ambitions, the 25-year-old will leave Arsenal if he can find a new suitor in the summer. Chelsea has been interested for a while now and could re-enter the chase for the £30 million Arsenal man, who also features in our three suggestions for the position at Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners have invested significantly in the keeper and will look to profit from his sale as the search for a new No.2 is already underway. Chelsea may have to work out a way to convince Arsenal to slap a reasonable price tag on the keeper. However, the Blues may not find a better option within the Premier League, given Ramsdale’s level of experience.
Chelsea are considering Ramsdale as a priority signing ahead of the summer, as Mauricio Pochettino and the ownership are keen to changing personnel between the sticks. Any move will undoubtedly depend on the finances involved, with Arsenal likely to demand prominent and open to selling the 25-year-old stopper.
Chelsea are eager to overhaul the goalkeeping ranks
Only last summer did Chelsea sign Robert Sanchez, and now they might sell the Spaniard following a dismal debut season at Stamford Bridge. Ramsdale is one of the many options on their shortlist, and it reportedly includes Porto’s Diogo Costa.
The Blues only revamped the entire position last summer, and the upcoming window might see them spend significantly on another No.1. Be it Ramsdale or someone like Costa, either player will cost Chelsea a large sum of money. However, the Arsenal star represents the best bet should Premier League experience become a consideration.
