Liverpool are expected to make an offer for Palmeiras teenager Luis Guilherme after club representative held talks to explore a move.

According to Jorge Nicola, Liverpool are keen on Luis Guilherme after a club representative was in Brazil to explore a move. The journalist insists the representative held conversations with Palmeiras as well as the player’s family in a bid to get ahead of the competition.

Liverpool will submit an offer for Luis Guilherme

In the last year or so, a host of top European and English sides have registered ample interest in South American youngsters, with the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea all in the news for various players. Liverpool were also linked with a host of stars, although they never followed through on links to names like Andre, among others.

For some time now, they have been linked with Palmeiras’ teenager Luis Guilherme, who plays as an attacking midfielder for the Brazilian side. The South American prodigy has been on the radar of many other top clubs. However, reports from Brazil through Jorge Nicola insist the Merseysiders are taking the following steps to cement their interest.

Nicola reported that a Liverpool representative was present in Brazil to hold talks with Palmeiras about the player. The said person also met with Guilherme’s family in a bid to convince them of a move to Merseyside, which has essentially been the method of many other clubs in recent years.

Since registering an interest, Liverpool are considered front runners, and now Nicolas insists the Merseysiders might submit an offer in the coming period to cement their interest. The South American prodigy has a €55 million release clause in his contract, although Liverpool are unlikely to pay anything close to that despite Palmeiras’ demands.

Palmeiras want €35 million plus bonuses for Guilherme

Palmeiras has been on a high since selling Endrick to Real Madrid, which reportedly was for €35 million fixed, with a massive chunk in add-ons. The Brazilian side wants a similar deal in place for 18-year-old Guilherme and would like to keep clubs informed of their demands for the attacking midfielder.

Liverpool are unlikely to pay anything close to that and will look for ways to negotiate any deal. For instance, the Merseysiders could look at the level of games Guilherme plays, as recently, the Palmeiras coach has yet to select him on a regular basis. That apart, they will surely make a compelling enough offer, although not close to the €35 million plus add-ons asking rate.
