Everton will reportedly demand around €70 million to sell 22-year-old Belgian midfield Amadou Onana, a target for Barcelona.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Amadou Onana is the subject of interest from Barcelona. But the reigning La Liga champions need to break the bank to secure the services of the Everton midfielder in the summer transfer window. The Premier League club will demand €70 million to part ways with the 22-year-old.
Amadou Onana and his Everton Journey
Amadou Onana arrived in the Premier League with a burgeoning reputation of being one of the best young midfielders in the world. He has done his name no harm in the last 18 months, establishing himself as a mainstay in the middle of the park for Everton since moving from LOSC Lille in August 2022.
The 22-year-old is now one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League while establishing a foothold in the Belgian national team. Onana has turned out 62 times thus far for Everton, chipping in with four goals and three assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.
Several Premier League bigwigs are keen on signing the former LOSC Lille midfielder, with Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly preparing offers to secure his services in the summer transfer window. He is also a target for reigning La Liga champions Barcelona. Meanwhile, Everton will demand €70 million to part ways with him.
Barcelona Want Onana
Barcelona’s interest in Amadou Onana is understandable. The Catalan giants are in the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. They did not sign a long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets when the veteran Spaniard joined Major League Soccer club Inter Miami.
Onana has thus emerged as a viable target for Barcelona, with his age profile also being appealing. But Everton’s asking price will likely pose a problem for the Blaugrana due to the never-ending financial issues. And Barcelona will unlikely have the funds to shell out €70 million to secure his services.
It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can compel Everton to compromise on the asking price. But coughing up €70 million to land Amadou Onana in the summer transfer window might be out of the question.
