Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United have received a major blow in their pursuit of Conor Gallagher.
According to a report by HITC, Conor Gallagher has already made a decision regarding his future. The 24-year-old Chelsea graduate has no intentions of parting ways with his childhood club despite interest in his services from Newcastle United, West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Conor Gallagher was promoted to Chelsea’s first team on the back of an impressive loan spell at Crystal Palace. While he was not a regular in his first season, he still got a decent amount of game time. The England international was linked with a move away from the club last summer but he ended up staying.
He was not really a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans heading into the season, but the 24-year-old has worked his way into the XI and is now one of the first names on their teamsheet. His incredible performances have attracted a lot of attention and with his contract running out, multiple clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation at Chelsea.
English clubs pushing for Chelsea star’s signatures
Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs that have been monitoring him for a while now. The North London club wanted to sign him during the winter to address the lack of depth in their midfield, but that couldn’t happen.
They still remain interested and are planning to make a move in the next summer. As far as Newcastle United are concerned, they have not been able to touch the heights they did last season. The Magpies are expected to make major changes to their squad in the summer, and Gallagher is one of the targets to reinforce their midfield.
He is young and has enough experience of playing in England, something that makes him an ideal fit for them. The Hammers also seek reinforcement in the centre of the park, while they did sign a number of players with the funds raised from Declan Rice’s departure, they still need another midfielder and the Chelsea graduate is one of their targets.
Conor Gallagher’s desire to stay and Chelsea’s stance
While all three clubs are keen on his signatures, Gallagher has no intentions of leaving the Blues. His priority is to stay at the West London club for as long as possible. He wants to be a part of their new project and wants to help his childhood club return to their glory days.
But, the Blues are yet to offer him a new deal. Both parties have previously met to discuss a new deal, but Chelsea have not offered him a new deal yet. With the player keen on staying, Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham can only sign him if they do not offer him a new deal before the end of the ongoing season.
