Manchester United are reportedly willing to fork out €50 million to sign 22-year-old Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.
According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Juve, Joshua Zirkzee is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are in the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window. And they are ready to invest €50 million to sign the 22-year-old from Serie A club Bologna.
The Rise and Rise of Joshua Zirkzee
Joshua Zirkzee has established himself as one of the best young strikers in Serie A this season. The Dutch forward took some time to get going after failing to establish a foothold at Bayern Munich. But the move to Serie A has done wonders to his career, as he has come leaps and bounds in the last 18 months.
The 22-year-old has contributed to 16 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions thus far this season. The youngster has found the back of the net ten times while providing six assists. Meanwhile, Zirkzee’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
Widespread reports have linked the young striker with many Premier League bigwigs, with Chelsea recently joining the race to sign him. But Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to sign the Dutchman from Serie A club Bologna in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United Want a Striker This Summer
Manchester United’s interest in Joshua Zirkzee is understandable. While Rasmus Hojlund has finally found a stable footing at Old Trafford, he needs more competition. Considering Manchester United will likely compete on four fronts next season, going into the 2024/25 campaign with only one striker will be foolhardy.
Manchester United will likely part ways with Anthony Martial in the summer transfer window. Zirkzee has thus emerged as a viable target to replace the struggling Frenchman. And the report by Tutto Juve has claimed that Manchester United are “ready to invest” €50 million to sign the 22-year-old striker.
Recent reports have claimed that Bologna will demand at least €50 million to part ways with the Dutch striker. So, with Manchester United ready to pay that much to land the youngster, a summer move to Old Trafford might be on the cards.
