Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will have to fork out €50-60 million for the services of 22-year-old Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.
According to a report by Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal are keen on bolstering their attack ahead of next season, and they have their eyes on Joshua Zirkzee. The 22-year-old striker has been on fire in the ongoing season, and the Gunners feel he could help them take the next step. Meanwhile, Bologna will demand around €50-60 million to sell the youngster.
Zirkzee joined Bayern Munich’s youth ranks back in the summer of 2017. He went up the ranks and made it to their first team in the summer of 2020. But things did not work out as planned and after multiple loan spells, he ended up joining Bologna in the summer of 2022.
Zirkzee’s revival at Bologna
Since joining the Italian club, the 22-year-old striker has been in sensational form. In the ongoing season, he has featured in a total of 27 matches and has contributed towards 16 goals. The Dutch youth international has found the back of the net 10 times.
Joshua Zirkzee seems to be a huge prospect for the future, and his impressive performances have attracted a lot of interest from across Europe. Arsenal are one of the clubs keen on having the 22-year-old in their ranks.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee
Mikel Arteta is not happy with the output of his current strikers. He wants to bring in a striker with a different profile, someone who can guarantee goals. They feel the Dutch international could help their cause and they are willing to make a move for his services.
While there is a €40 million clause in his contract, it is only valid for Bayern Munich. The German giants have the option to buy him back. But, even if Bayern decide against re-signing, the 22-year-old forward, they will still get 50% on the future resale, but only in excess of the €8 million that the Italian club paid to sign him two summers back.
As far as Arsenal are concerned, they will have to fork out around €50-60 million to land the Dutch youth international in their ranks. They are keen on adding Zirkzee to their ranks and have an excellent relationship with his representatives, which makes things easier for them. While the Italian club would love to have him in their ranks for years to come, they can say no to a figure like €50-60 million.
