Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are scouting 26-year-old Newcastle United mainstay Bruno Guimaraes ahead of a potential move in the summer.

According to a report by HITC, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are both keen on having Bruno Guimaraes in their ranks. The 26-year-old Newcastle United midfielder has been on the radar of both the clubs for a while, and representatives of the teams were recently seen at the St. James’ Park scouting him.

Bruno Guimaraes’ rise at Newcastle

Bruno Guimaraes has gone from strength to strength since joining the Magpies back in the winter of 2022. Newcastle United forked out £40 million to sign the Brazil international from Lyon. He has been a regular feature in their starting XI ever since he joined the Tyneside club.

The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the mainstays in the team and has been a consistent performer for them. His impressive display has caught the attention of quite a few clubs from across Europe. Meanwhile, Barcelona and PSG are two clubs that have been monitoring him for a while now.

PSG and Barcelona watch Bruno Guimaraes in action

They are keen on signing him ahead of next season, and their interest is backed up by their watching Guimaraes in action on Saturday against Bournemouth at St. James’ Park. While the Magpies failed to win (2-2 draw), the Brazilian did have a decent day at work.

Barcelona might be struggling financially, but they have plans to raise funds by offloading a few of their players. Those funds will be used to reinforce their team. The Catalan giants are in desperate need of a new world-class defensive midfielder, and they feel the Brazilian midfielder could help their cause.

Meanwhile, PSG are planning for life without Kylian Mbappe. With the French international leaving, the club has plans to replace him by signing multiple stars, and Bruno Guimaraes is one of their targets. They feel he could add a lot to their midfield.

While the 26-year-old is an integral part of the Newcastle United setup, the Magpies could consider the idea of selling him. They might be backed by rich owners, but they need to sell one of their stars to reinforce their team amidst profit and sustainability concerns at the club.
