La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are open to the idea of sanctioning a loan move for Arda Guler in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Arda Guler will have two options in the summer transfer window. The Turkish international might stay at Real Madrid and work on his fitness throughout the 2024/25 season. Alternatively, he can leave on loan to improve his physicality and secure regular game time at another club.
Arda Guler at Real Madrid: The Story So Far
Arda Guler has endured a frustrating stint with Real Madrid since arriving from Fenerbahce in the summer transfer window. Los Blancos shelled out €20 million to secure his services. But the investment has not paid off thus far, with the 18-year-old struggling with several fitness issues.
The Turkish international has thus managed only four appearances thus far this season for Real Madrid, totalling 89 minutes of game time. He has shrugged off his fitness issues in the last few weeks, but game time continues to elude him.
So, it is hardly surprising that recent reports have created speculation surrounding Guler’s future. Several well-known clubs, including AC Milan, have shown interest in the teenage sensation. And the report by SPORT has suggested that a loan move might be on the cards for the young playmaker heading into the summer transfer window.
Loan Move on the Cards?
The Spanish publication has claimed that Real Madrid can keep Arda Guler at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer transfer window. That will help him build his fitness and physicality according to Los Blancos’ requirements. Alternatively, the 18-year-old might leave Real Madrid on loan ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The Merengues have utilised this option well with many players in the last few years, with Brahim Diaz being the latest shining example. Federico Valverde also benefitted from a loan move before becoming a pivotal figure for Real Madrid. Real Madrid can also recoup the investment of €20 million if they decide to sell him, as they did with Martin Odegaard.
So, a loan move might benefit both parties, especially if Arda Guler does not come up to the desired levels. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Turkish international.
