Manchester United are willing to fork out €50 million to sign the 27-year-old Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries.

According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United will look to bolster their defence in the summer after having struggled in the ongoing season because of injuries to their key defenders and lack of quality. The Red Devils will look to bring in quality defenders to improve their squad as a whole and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries is one of their transfer targets.

Dumfries has gone from strength to strength since joining Inter Milan from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2021. The 27-year-old has featured in a total of 117 matches for the Italian club and has contributed towards 27 goals so far.

He has primarily featured as the right wing-back but is capable enough to feature as a full-back as well as further up the pitch. The Dutch international has been a consistent performer for Inter Milan and his impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention.

Dumfries’ uncertain future at Inter Milan

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old faces an uncertain future at the Italian club as he has entered the final 18 months of his deal with the club. While the two parties have been involved in talks regarding a new deal, those talks haven’t progressed well.

If he doesn’t pen an extension, they will not have many options to play with and might have to sanction his departure in the summer. Irrespective of Dumfries’ contract situation, Inter anyway need to raise funds in the summer before making any moves.

They are not in the best of financial situations and a sale could benefit them in a huge way. Meanwhile, United could be a saviour for the Italian club as they are willing to make a move for the Dutch international.

Red Devils willing to fork out €50 million

The Red Devils have struggled in the ongoing season and one of the major reasons for their struggle has been the lack of enough quality in their backline. Erik ten Hag is keen on addressing that issue by signing a new right-back and they feel Dumfries could do wonders for them.

He has the pace and the attacking threat needed to further bolster their right flank. The Dutch international could be an ideal fit for the club and they are willing to spend up to €50 million to sign the 27-year-old. His arrival could be a step towards reviving themselves.
