Manchester United are keen on 18-year-old Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel and have established contact to sign him.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have established first contacts to sign 18-year-old Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel. But the youngster is eager to remain with the Bundesliga champions despite his diminishing minutes.

The Frenchman is highly rated in German football, and he has been a useful squad player for Bayern Munich this season. He has six goals and three assists to his name across all competitions this term.

Although he primarily operates as a left-sided winger, he is versatile enough to operate as a centre forward as well as a right winger. His versatility will be an added bonus for Manchester United if they can secure his signature.

The Red Devils are serious about signing the player, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The 18-year-old could be attracted to the idea of joining them if they can promise him regular first-team football.

Other English clubs are keen on the highly rated winger as well. Manchester United should look to move swiftly if they want to secure his services at the end of the season. But the youngster wants to become a Bayern Munich legend and is fighting to remain at the club.

Manchester United move would be ideal for Tel

The 18-year-old winger needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and Bayern Munich are unlikely to be able to provide him with that opportunity just yet. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United come forward with an official proposal to sign the teenage sensation in the coming weeks.

They could nurture him into a top-class Premier League attacker in the coming seasons. Players like Antony and Jadon Sancho have been quite mediocre with their performances, and the Red Devils need alternatives to finish high up the table and compete for major trophies next season.

They will need more creativity and goals from the wide areas, and Tel should prove to be a solid investment for them. However, it is fair to assume that Manchester United will have to secure Champions League qualification and provide the 18-year-old with regular game time assurances in order to stand a chance of signing him.
