Arsenal won’t pay over €50 million for Amadou Onana

Arsenal are unwilling to pay over €50 million to sign Amadou Onana, with the Everton midfielder a target for Mikel Arteta in the summer.

According to Voetbalkrant via SportWitness, Arsenal are not keen to overpay for Amadou Onana, with the Gunners willing to go beyond €50 million. Everton could sell the 22-year-old midfielder in the summer, but they might have a higher price point.

Arsenal set price limit for Amadou Onana

Mikel Arteta has underlined the need for a new midfielder in the summer window, as they have set sights on several high-profile targets. Martin Zubimendi, Frenkie de Jong and Douglas Luiz are a few of the names on Artsenal’s list, as they also have Amadou Onana.

Onana has been a fantastic performer for Everton since moving from France, although the 22-year-old may harbour some big ambitions for his future. Everton’s financial state also puts a question mark on their ability to hold on to their best talents.

Arsenal are in the race for Onana and are aware of other rivals targetting the midfielder too. However, they might have made an enquiry in January despite the Gunners not having the financial means to match Everton’s asking price.

There are questions about whether Onana is their primary target for that midfield role ahead of other names on their list. However, they will keep their eyes open for any potential openings in the market, although they are unwilling to pay more than €50 million for the midfielder, despite Everton likely to demand significantly more for the 22-year-old.

Chelsea and Barcelona are also chasing Onana in the summer.

Arsenal are considered a front-runner for Onana, although other rivals like Chelsea are also keen on the midfielder. The Blues are well stocked in midfield with Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez, with the trio costing more than €250 million.

Yet, the Blues might look stronger as they might sell Conor Gallagher to raise funds in the market. Barcelona are also keen but unwilling to pay €50 million or more for the midfielder in the next window.
