Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly willing to offer “more than €30 million” to acquire the services of Genoa attacker Albert Gudmundsson.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, as relayed by Sport Witness, Spurs are “ready to bring” the Iceland international to the Premier League “to the tune of millions.”

The report adds that Ange Postecoglou’s side “could bet big on him and put a significant sum” in excess of €30 million on the table to sign the winger in the upcoming summer transfer window, with chairman Daniel Levy set to use his strong Genoa connections to help strike a deal.

Gudmundsson’s impressive numbers in Serie A this season

The 26-year-old has been in fine form for Genoa this season, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 23 appearances in all competitions, including league strikes against Roma, Juventus, and Bologna.

The 35-time Iceland international has tended to play as a second striker for Genoa this season, but he is versatile enough to operate as a wideman and a centre-forward if needed.

Needless to say, his red-hot scoring form has not gone unnoticed, and he was the subject of a €22 million bid from Genoa’s Serie A rivals Fiorentina in the winter window.

That opening bid was swiftly knocked back by Genoa, who made their stance clear that they will only sell if a €30 million offer arrives at their door. Fiorentina remain on the 26-year-old’s trail, though they are now at serious risk of missing out on him to Spurs.

Tottenham eyeing big-money summer swoop for Gudmundsson

Spurs were first linked with Gudmundsson in November, and this latest update states they are one of the front-runners in the race to snap him up this summer.

Tottenham have already performed business with Genoa twice in January, with Radu Dragusin and Djed Spence heading in opposite directions during the January transfer window. The Lilywhites splashed an initial £25.7 million to sign centre-back defender Dragusin from the Italian outfit.

Right-back Spence, meanwhile, has joined Genoa on loan for the remainder of the season, with an option to purchase him permanently this summer for £8.5 million.

According to the above report, those deals mean Tottenham and Genoa have a fruitful working relationship, and it could see another exciting player arrive at the Hotspur Way from the Italian market.
