Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur handed boost in Lloyd Kelly pursuit

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost in their pursuit of 25-year-old Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.

According to a report by Football Insider, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen on having Lloyd Kelly in their ranks. The 25-year-old defender’s future has been the talk of the town of late and the latest development suggests the English clubs have received a boost in their pursuit.

Kelly came up the ranks at Bristol City before joining Bournemouth in the summer of 2019. While he has gone from strength to strength since making the move, things haven’t been that great of late. He missed a major part of last season because of injuries.

While he has returned to full fitness, Kelly has still had limited game time at the English club. With his contract running out at the end of the season and him struggling to get the desired minutes. clubs are closely monitoring his situation.

Since the 25-year-old has entered the last six months of his deal, he can sign a pre-contract with any foreign club. There is a lot of interest in him from Italy as well as Germany. But, the player is in no rush to make a decision regarding his future.

He doesn’t want to pen down any pre-contract and will wait until the very end before making a decision. Meanwhile, Tottenham and Liverpool are two long-term admirers of the English centre-back. They are both looking to add depth to their defence and have once again started monitoring him post the end of the winter transfer window.

Spurs do not have much depth in the heart of their defence while the Merseyside club are looking to freshen things up at the back. The opportunity to sign an experienced Premier League defender for free is something neither of them want to miss.

With the player making it clear that he won’t sign any pre-contract both English clubs can now dream of making a move for him in their summer. But, they can only sign him for free if he doesn’t pen down a new deal with the Cherries.
